What if Local Governments Helped People Repair Their Electronics Rather Than Replace Them?

Wouldn’t it be great if there was an easy way to learn how to repair your phone and customize it for your own needs? What if communities worked together to support repair workshops so that we could stop buying new devices and start repairing the ones we already have. Maybe people could even donate materials and volunteer their time to make working phones for people who can’t afford them.

Could Surveillance Technology Track People’s Moods to Help You Avoid Angry Individuals?

Could this system be more trouble than it’s worth? Such technology could help people avoid volatile individuals, but it could also be used as a tool for people searching for a fight.

And could tech that can ‘read your feelings’ and let people know that you could be trouble, really know the context of your bad mood? Wouldn’t it be terrible to be publicly labelled a trouble maker just because you were having one off day? That’s like being refused an opportunity because of a tweet you made when you were drunk eight years ago!

What do you think, are advanced surveillance systems useful or dangerous?
